Website for "De Kazerne" (2022)
The Project
With R&D we try to solve problems for companies or businesses. My first project in Money and Marketing was for De Kazerne in Westzaan, a small café that was in need of a website. Together with a group of four people, we took on the task of creating their online presence. Our approach involved conducting thorough research on color schemes and exploring various design options. All this to create the best website possible for De Kazerne. The research we did can be found down below.

I am pleased to share that the website we developed for De Kazerne is currently being utilized by the café. You can access the final site by following the link provided below. The results of our research where that we needed to use round shapes and colours that fitted the cafè. In our case the cafè was ment to look old and cozy. So brown/darker colors would work the best. Aside from that we used the colours of the logo of the cafè which are yellow, blue and white.
Skills and Competencies based on STARRT
In this project we practiced the profession of 'Website builder'. This required skills such as planning, cooperation and empathy for your teammates. This project required good cooperation and planning from our group. Fortunately, we got on well and the collaboration went very smoothly.
Situatie (Situation)
In this project my personal goal was to improve the empathy competence. It is important to me that people feel comfortable in my team. As a result, they dare to say more and we have a broader view of everyone. Before this project I often just wanted to push my own point and then others had to listen. This worked fine for me but my group members suffered from this. So this had to be improved, and that's what I did in this project.
Taak (My Task)
My job in this project was to ask people from time to time how they were doing and what they thought of certain decisions. With certain teammates this wasn't a problem, but with some I definitely had to ask and ask before they really dared to give their opinion. This gave me insight into how things can often be done differently, even when others at first don't say it.
Actie (Action)
A concrete example is with a teammate Yoran. He often wants what's best for the team, which is good, but sometimes at the expense of his own opinion. It took me a while to figure this out but eventually I saw it and was able to ask him in person what he really thought of it. This ensured that he too could express his ideas.
Resultaat (Results)
The results I got from this behaviour were amazing! People started to say what they thought more often which helped the team a lot! Also when something happened people could come to me to say what they thought and if they didn't agree with me. This way my eyes could be opened for things I missed or just didn't see.
Reflectie (Reflection)
As mentioned above I found out how often people keep their opinions to themselves. By asking how they feel about something or what they really think, you can get much further as a team. Before this project I thought it would be nice and clear if I just said my idea and everyone listened, but afterwards I see that this is certainly not the solution. This was a really great lesson for me which will help me in future projects!
Toepassing (application)
All the lessons I learned will be really usefull for my following projects. Not only will people feel like they are heard, it is also good for the team and the progress. In short: I am really happy that I developed this skill in this project.
