Website and marketingplan for "Mlango Farm Kenya" (2023)
The Project
With R&D we try to solve problems for companies or businesses. The second project in the bètaworld of Market and Money was a project for Mlango Farm. Mlango Farm is a Farm in Kenya which needed funding from the Netherlands (and other countries). We were asked to make a Website for the foundation in the Netherlands. This was needed so that people from the Netherlands could donate money, and be able to reduce their taxes by doing so. If they didn't support Mlango farm trough the Dutch Foundation they would still need to pay taxes on it which would mean that they could donate less money.
Results
I am very happy with the result we got from this project. Mlango Farm now has a functioning site which they can use to accept donations. I have never seen a client this happy with our product then Els and Jolanda from Mlango farm. They told us that they would be for ever thankful. Hearing this made the project all worth it. The research we did into how you get people to donate is linked above and I will link the site down below.
Skills and Competencies based on STARRT
With R&D you need to improve a competence in every project. During this project I foccused on improving my motivating skills. In this project we practiced the profession of 'Website builder'. This also required skills such as planning, cooperation and good teamwork.
Situatie (Situation
In this project my personal goal was to improve the motivating competence. This means that I had to put others to work and give them things to do. This did result in me doing a bit less then normal in this project because I was more foccused on trying to get others to do the work. Before this project if others wouldn't want to do something I would just do it beacause that was the easier way out. But in this project I had to learn to not do that.
Taak (My Task
When the project started I to motivate others to do things immediately. And so it was that the second lesson we already sent a mail to Els (from Mlango Farm) and had a first talk planned with her. After that we immediately started our research. Everything went really good really quick because everyone knew what to do (most of the time). If someone didn't know what to do next I tried to assign them to another task which needed to be done. This was mostly done on a whitboard with the tasks for the day.
Actie (Action)
A concrete example from this project was our last lesson. We underestimated a few chapters of our research so in the final lesson a lot had to be done. We really didn't feel like doing anything, but we had to. So I got myself a whiteboard and wrote down who had to do what. Everyone started to work on their things and in the end we got everything done in time.
Resultaat (Results)
The example from above wasn't the only time we needed to come together and decide what needed to be done. This shows that it was good for the team that I chose this skill. It made our end product a lot better.
Reflectie (Reflection)
As I said before it was a really good decision to work on the skill of motivating my team members. If I wouldn't have picked this skill we might not even have finished this project. I am happy with what a learned in motivating others. Examples of this are complimenting others when they've done something well, helping others if the made mistakes and learn from it and I tried to always stay happy and optimistic. This skills will be very helpful later in life or in other projects
Toepassing (application)
All the lessons I learned will be really usefull for my following projects, and in the rest of my life. If you can motivate others to do things you can reach a lot of goals togehter. Way more then if you are just by yourself, working hard on something and wont accept help. That is why I am really happy that I chose to develop this skill.
